Isle of Arran
Joy and Paddy Oram. Joy is from the village of Eyam (the Plague village) in Derbyshire and parenting and housewife duties were followed by a career in care and nursing when Joy decided to study holistic therapies. Now following extensive training she is qualified in the provision of treatments in massage, reflexology, reiki, clinical hypnosis and is a Healing Lives Achieving Dreams course facilitator based on the work of Louisa Hay. She has completed The Journey Accredited Therapist Programme with Brandon Bays. Studying a combined degree in Healing Arts, Psychology, Experience of Writing and English Literature she has a BA (Hons) in English.
Paddy (real name Barry) is from east London and latterly Sussex and following and engineering apprenticeship, worked as a service engineer, service manger and operations manager in the medical equipment industry before ‘retiring’ to Arran. Supposedly taking it easy, he has spent the last few years renovating Meadow Cottages to a high standard to do justice to its beautiful location. Like Joy he loves walking, sailing and enjoys being outdoors in nature which provides inspiration for his photography and painting.
Both by now divorced, Paddy and Joy met in 2002 and decided to start a new life running a B & B or holiday let, hopefully offering alternative therapies. After a long search, the magic Isle of Arran was located with Meadow Cottages on the market being an original crofters cottage with a newer holiday cottage extension. However, the original was uninhabitable needing major reconstruction and the other requiring complete renovation. With that work now mostly completed, they wish to share this wonderful location with their guests.
